The Whalebone Gallery has become a local icon in the ten years in which it has been showcasing the work of Port Fairy’s artists. This Gallery features a unique collection of vibrant, contemporary art in a range of media including paintings, etchings, hand-blown glass, wire sculptures, ceramics, lamp-worked glass jewelry, limestone sculpture and water features, glass collage, and hand-painted silk. The artists themselves staff the gallery, and some have their own working studios open to the public and featured on the Port Fairy Art Walk Map. The artists are more than happy to discuss their work with you and cater to requests for personal commissions.

Each month Whalebone stages two special exhibitions featuring work by guest artists. These exhibitions are part of the gallery’s commitment to foster artistic endeavor in our community. Our policy is also to support the concept of accessible art. Therefore the work in the gallery is very reasonably priced enabling everyone to own a piece of original art to keep and treasure. The gallery is a friendly and welcoming place to visit even if you are “ just looking”. Don’t let your summer holiday in Port Fairy pass without calling in to find out first hand all that this special gallery has to offer.
