Other mediums I love to use:
Oil and encaustic are slow to develop, require much planning and thought but are full of surprises and very tactile, rather like creating sculpture. Oil pastel is fun and back to kindergarten and a great way of channeling excess energy. Collage is also a playful medium and involves the discovery of endless possibilities of materials. Chalk pastels are tactile but in a gentle way and the colour blending is absorbing and meditative while gouache is exacting, painstaking and perfect when I want to sit quietly. Acrylics are perhaps the most versatile of mediums and enable a lot of control and revision, ideal for “ the “ big picture” especially with all the mixing mediums that are available.
