Silk- painting
. I have been painting on silk for 19 years, initially learning at a workshop while away on holiday. Apart from this I am basically self-taught - perhaps the best teachers are experience and the willingness to “have a go” and experiment. Silk- painting is an exciting medium because of the brilliant colour , surprise effects and the fact that it is uses fabric which gives huge potential for the diversity of the finished product. When creating 2D work the nature of the technique leads to flat, naïve colourful images which are fun and illustrative and quite unique .I enjoy this aspect as it suits my appreciation of the world as a fun (and often funny) place to be.
