Icon Series- “Madonna & Child” $480
“Icons’ invited me to revisit some of the subject matter I worked with for many years as a
stained glass artist commissioned to create Church windows. The symbolism and highly decorative
pictures used to tell stories always appealed to me. The Byzantium period is a favourite of
mine for both its integrity of colour and its simplistic stylized approach to figurative compositions
. It was pure indulgence to seek inspiration here. Unlike Church windows, the scale of “Icons
” was much more intimate, allowing me to use intricate beading and lacework to create this
series of tactile and jewelled miniatures. Dimensions 400mm x400mm.
